Tiruvannamalai and the Arunachala mountain :
- Significance: Tiruvannamalai is an ancient temple town and a center of the Shiva religion. Mount Arunachala has been highly revered by the Tamil people for centuries.
- Historical and spiritual significance: The mountain is one of the oldest and most sacred places for the god Shiva in India and is associated with a legend in which Shiva appeared as a pillar of light from which the mountain emerged.
